Edwards Elementary Book Drive Comes to a Close
|
Oklahoma City, June 10, 2010 – Public Strategies announced today that its book drive for Edwards Elementary School has come to a close. The original goal of collecting 1,000 books for the school’s library was met and exceeded by almost 300 percent. “Over 3,800 books have been donated as a part of this book drive,” said Mary Myrick, founder and President of Public Strategies. “I am overwhelmed by the enthusiasm and support of the PSI staff and their willingness to go the extra mile to assist the students of Edwards Elementary.”
The books are currently being made “library ready” over the summer with assistance from the staff of the Oklahoma City Public Schools library team. “Each book needs to be coded, labeled and sorted,” said Shonda Harrison, Human Resources Manager for Public Strategies. “But they will be ready for the brand new library at Edwards Elementary when it opens the first day of school in August 2010.”
Public Strategies will continue to seek out opportunities to support the students and teachers of Edwards Elementary throughout the coming school year and beyond. “The exciting part about adopting Edwards Elementary as a company is that we are just getting started,” said Myrick. “I can’t wait to see what the future holds for these children as our partnership continues to grow.”
